Getting Started with YOB . . .

Hello!
We are starting a new experiment this summer and continuing the Year of the Bible (YOB) Bible Studies via blogs. We will start the week of May 23rd and continue through the rest of the summer. Each week a different guest blogger will be hosting the YOB discussion for the week. When you visit this website you will be able to:
  1. Find the current YOB readings for the week.
  2. Read & participate in discussion questions based on the readings for the week.
  3. Stay in touch with members of YOB Bible studies, even though your summers are crazy!
  4. Give this web address to other friends and family members so they can join in the YOB study with you!
Haven't been participating in YOB?

Its no problem, but here are some FAQ you might want to know to help you get started:

Which version of the Bible should I read? There is no one version that is best for all people. A few standard versions are: NRSV, RSV, NIV, JB, GNB. If you want more information about the different versions of the Bibles to use, feel free to contact us at yearofthebiblewilliamsburg@yahoo.com or use the helpful links at the top of this blog.

How does YOB work?
Basically, the YOB gives you a systematic way to read the entire Bible. Since there are other people following the same reading schedule as you, you will have plenty of other people to discuss the Bible readings for the week with! You will always be able to find the Bible readings for the week on this blog, along with discussion questions.

Why should I start YOB?

  1. You can say you've read the Bible cover to cover.
  2. You'll get to connect with other people trying to get to know God's gift.
  3. It's more exciting than watching [insert most prime time television programs here!]
  4. It could change your life!
  5. You'll know where to find Habakkuk!
